Irish Open Long Course Championships 2018

 Massive Congratulations to Tallaght's Brendan Hyland, who won the 200m Butterfly in a new Senior Irish record of 1:57.44, and the 100m Butterfly in a new senior Irish record of 1:57.44. Brendan also achieved a consideration qualifying time for the European Championships for both events. Brendan was fourth in 100m Free with a Personal best time 50.42s. Brendan now has consideration times for the LEN European Swimming Championships, 2nd – 10th August 2018, Glasgow, Scotland for 100m and 200m Butterfly.

Huge shout out to Niamh Coyne, who won silver in the 100m Breaststroke with a personal best time of 1:08.9. Niamh won silver in the 200m Breaststroke with a personal best time of 2:31.83, and Bronze in the 50m Breaststroke. Niamh also achieved consideration times for the European Junior Swimming Championships, 4th – 8th July 2018, Helsinki, Finland in 100m and 200m Breatstroke.

Clodagh Flood won silver in the 200m Butterfly with a personal best time of 2:16.63.

Massive congratulations to Stephen Byrne who won bronze in the 200m backstroke, and improved his personal best by 4 seconds in the heat, and a further 2 seconds in the final. Stephen also made the final of the 50m Backstroke and finished with a personal best time of 27.9s

Congratulations to Niamh Coyne (Sancta Maria College) and Caoimhe Egan (St. Colmcilles Community School) on being selected to swim for Leinster in the Irish Schools Interprovincial Gala. (Full Team List)

More Success for Tallaght Swimmers in the Dave McCullagh International Meet (Feb '18), with a medal haul of 9 medals. Brendan Hyland won two gold medals in the 100m & 200m Butterfly; bronze in the 50m Butterfly. Niamh Coyne won silvers in the 50m,100m & 200m Breaststroke, 200m I.M. Clodagh Flood won silver in the 200m Butterfly,  and bronze in the 100m Butterfly.

Huge Congratulations to Niamh Coyne on winning the 50m & 100m Breast Stroke events at the Irish Short Course championships in Lisburn in December 2017.

Congratulations to Niamh Coyne on achieving 10th overall in the 100m Breastroke at the World Junior games. Niamh achieved a new personal best in the 100m Breaststroke with 1:09.67 - Niamh also swam in the 50m Breaststroke where she achieved 24th overall.

Ireland’s 400m Medley Relay ended the FINA World Championships (15th-30th July 2017) with a new Irish Senior Record and a top 16 finish.

Shane Ryan, Nicholas Quinn, Brendan Hyland (of Tallaght Swim Team) and Jordan Sloan combined for a time of 3:36.61, breaking the record of 3:37.47 that Ryan, Quinn, Hyland and Curtis Coulter had set in the final of the event at the 2016 European Championships.

Brendan also swam in the individual events and came 28th in the 200m Butterfly and 44th in the 100m Butterfly.

Tallaght Swim Team (TST) is a small competitive swimming club based in Tallaght, Dublin 24. Our Membership includes swimmers of various abilities, from those just moving up from swimming classes to those competing at Club, Provincial, National and International level.  TST has members from all over Leinster including Blesssington, Naas, and Newbridge. The club welcomes new members of all ages to join, develop and improve their swimming skills and compete in competitions. The squads range from the Transition /Learning Class which is for swimmers moving up from Lessons to our A squad who compete at National and International Levels.

Paraic is former Irish National Swimmer and current Master swimmer. He holds an ASA Coach Cert and a ASA Teachers Cert. Paraic has coached some of Ireland's most successful current swimmers including Brendan Hyland, Clodagh Flood, and Niamh Coyne.

Our Friend, Colleague, and Coach, Marion sadly passed away on the 23rd March 2017. Marion was a coach for TST for 30 years and coached numerous swimmers to achieve personal, regional, national and international success. A swimmer herself she had a love for all things swimming. She will be deeply missed by all.

Li is a former swimmer for the Chinese National Team. He holds an Honours degree in Physical Education, and holds a Swim ireland Teachers Certificate. Li also coaches the Masters swim team.

Brendan Hyland - first year finance and accounting student receiving his sport scholarship including sporting and academic development costs, access to DCU gym facilities, strength and conditioning and educational workshop
Clodagh Flood DCU & Tallaght Swim Team
Clodagh Flood receiving her sports scholarship for swimming from DCU. Clodagh is a first year enterprise computing student.
Evan Flynn Tallaght Swim Team
Evan Flynn - triathlete who trained with Tallaght Swim team received a scholarship to Queen University of Charlotte, North Carolina USA.
